HOW DID THIS START?
Sometime during the spring in 2004, I met "Robert", which is how I was introduced to him by a client of mine, at Atlantis Health and Fitness, the gym at which I'm a personal trainer. At this point, I'd never heard of a Naked Cowboy. After many workouts side-by-side on the elliptical, I still didn't quite understand what it was that he did for a living after he left the gym each day. I figured it had something to do with the entertainment business, but HAD NO IDEA!!!
After a few months of friendship, good workouts, and some very interesting conversations, I decided to go to Times Square to see EXACTLY what he does all day. Needless to say, I was a bit shocked! I actually stood across the street to observe for a while until I knew exactly what to say...or if I should leave before he knew I was even there. Finally, I got the courage to walk up to him. Asside from seeming glad to see me, his first words were "Did you bring your camera?" as if I had any idea that I'd need one.
We walked back to the Icon Parking Garage so he could put away his guitar and put his "regular" clothes back on. Being we both lived in the same town, I drove home with him. And here was the "Robert" I knew from the gym, which at this point I definetely felt more comfortable with. After a few more months, our relationship grew into a very heartfelt, romantic one. I was still trying to figure out what to tell family and friends when they asked me what my new boyfriend did for a career.
It wasn't until my first trip with him, after dating five months, to New Orleans during Mardi Gras that I realized that I was going out with a "Celebrity". I thought it was "a local thing", that just people in our area knew him. We couldn't walk two feet down Bourbon Street without someone asking him for a photo. I was so overwhelmed that I had to sneak away and call my mother to tell her what was going on.
The rest is history! Now, I dress up (or should I say....Dress Down!) for the occasion and take photos for his fans so they can get in the shot:) Now I'm Naked Cowboy'sGirl...Coming to a town near you!
